A "buon fresco" painting on free support, 60 x 40 cm - ‪‪23,62 x ‪15,74 in

It has been created during the course I have been teaching for more than 10 years about

"Traditional Painting: Materials, Methods and Restoration Issues".

In the year 2005 I decided to make a gift to the priest that hosts

us in the wonderful monastery of San Giovanni Battista.

In the last picture, the ceremony of delivering

the fresco of Jesus Christ painted

in a strictly traditional

Byzantine

style.

Buon Fresco, Italian for "true fresco", is a fresco painting technique in which

alkaline-resistant pigments, ground in water, are applied onto a wet plaster.

It is distinguished from the "secco" techniques, in which

paints are applied onto a dry

plaster.
