In 2010 starts a project for the protection and preservation of the Ur site, as a result of a tight collaboration between the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Cultural Heritage - Higher Institute for Conservation and Restoration - and the Iraqi Ministry of Culture -
State Board of Antiquities, in the frame of the program "Technical Assistance for the Rehabilitation
and Management of the Iraqi Cultural Heritage".
Six members of the staff of the State Board of Antiquities and Heritage have been trained so to be able,
after the six months course, to properly protect the archaeological sites.
The building selected for the restoration work was a portion of the
walls of the E-nun-mah temple, that means
"House of the Exalted Prince"
and dates back
to 2300
BC.
