In this section are displayed my decorative paintings, commonly defined as “trompe l’oeil”.
What is a trompe l’oeil? Here is the full definition of the French expression trompe l'oeil by the Merriam-Webster dictionary:
1: a style of painting in which objects are depicted with photographically realistic detail;
also the use of similar technique in interior decorating-
2: something that misleads or deceives the senses: illusion.
In few words, the expression "trompe l'oeil" means literally "to deceive the eye".
There is not a specific painting technique for a trompe l’oeil,
it can be carried out by fresco, tempera,
oil, encaustic etc., what is important
is how realistic shows the result.
